The kindling and the fire

I am the kindling and the fire (that devours it).

I am the birdsong and the nest.

I am the wave and the sea (that births it).

I have many homes and none at all.

My eyes are all the stars that pierce the fabric of the soft sky of night.

My body is the mantle of purple sunset, and velvet black, and rosy dawn.

I am the breeze and the rain.

I am the cloud and the sky (that holds it).

I am the falling leaf and the new bud.

I am all this, and I am nothing whatsoever.

Do not confuse my appearance with Truth, for I wear many faces and I wear none at all.
